RUGER LCP SERIES PISTOLS
Sturm, Ruger, & Co introduced and set the new standard in Light- weight Compact Pistols in 2008 with their new LCP pistol. The new modern pocket pistol incorporates a lock-breech, hammer-fired, semi-automatic design chambered in .380 ACP, with a detachable six round magazine. The slim snag-free pistol was a huge success and sold more than 1.5 million units in less than nine years.
RUGER LCP II (.380 ACP)
Ruger introduced the much improved second version of the LCP series in December of 2016. Although the LCP II is almost identical in size as the original, it has the following updates and upgrades.
The width of the new coarse textured grip has been increased by about two tenths of an inch. Cocking serrations on the slide with an integral glare-reducing front post sight, and a larger rear notch sight were added.
A new trigger system, with an articulated blade safety provides a consistent and clean pull of about 6 lbs, was a huge improvement over the original LCPs 10-plus lb. double action trigger. The LCP II has a single-action mechanism which allows the hammer to be fully cocked from the rearward motion of the slide. This model also has an automatic slide hold-open after the last round has been fired (not found on the original model). Six round magazines are interchange- able with both the original and LCP II models. Except the automatic slide hold-open will only work with LCP II magazines when placed into an LCP II. The LCP II (.380) was discontinued in early 2023.
RUGER LCP II (.22LR with manual safety)
On December 30th, 2019, Ruger introduced the Lite Rack™ which allows for easy slide manipulation by adding pronounced cocking ears and a lighter recoil spring. A new tilt-barrel, blowback semi-auto action, helps to reliably feed from the compact 10+1 magazine.
RUGER LCP MAX (.380 ACP)
In July 2021 Ruger introduced the LCP MAX that fits 10+1 rounds into the same footprint as the LCP II. This model is easy to identify by its new adjustable high visibility sights, improved textured grip, and a reversible magazine release. A 12+1 extended magazine is available.
